“BME-GPK-PE-MK-Sustainable energy and catalysis lab”

Excellent Research Infrastructure

Co-ordinator: Edit Cséfalvay, PhD, Associate Professor, Email: csefalvay@energia.bme.hu

The laboratory has outstanding expertise in petroleum refining, petrochemistry, process optimization, and the production of value-added products derived from the sustainable catalytic chemical conversion of various wastes. Key areas of interest are the production of synthesis gas or H2 and their utilization as synthetic hydrocarbon or green ammonia fuels. Their combustion circumstances and emissions are investigated in an in-house-built combustion equipment and gas turbine. Blending of H2 and natural gas mixtures is tested in a domestic combustion test station and in gas engines. Our energy research focuses on renewable energy production, -storage and its integration into the grid. We aim to achieve sustainable energy through environmental and LCA assessment of processes.
